Mobile travel sites: support decisions on the move

Travellers may have limited time and an unreliable connection. Prioritise immediate decisions: access, opening times, booking and conditions.

Identify urgent tasks

Collect same-day questions: directions, availability, booking and cancellation. Put answers before decorative effects. Attractive photography cannot compensate for a missing address or unclear total price. Give the most time-sensitive information an accountable owner.

Publish verifiable information

State sources and review dates for opening times and conditions. Separate usual schedules, exceptions and closures. Old recommendations are not current availability; link to the operator responsible for the service and explain when confirmation is necessary.

Test difficult conditions

Try a small screen, keyboard navigation and a slowed connection. Make addresses readable without an interactive map. Ensure booking can be understood without installing an application, and avoid concealing fees until the final screen.

Support the post-booking journey

Provide confirmation, contact and modification instructions. Let people retrieve essentials without restarting the process. Evaluate avoided questions and corrected failures rather than only counting opened pages.

Worked example

Acceptance journey: find opening times, verify the address, understand the full price, book, retrieve confirmation and locate cancellation conditions. Repeat on a narrow screen with media unavailable.

Check before moving on
