LinkedIn profiles: demonstrate skills with evidence

A professional profile should explain your role and work. Replace generic adjectives with understandable accomplishments, honest limits and deliberate contact choices.

Choose a specific proposition

State the audience, field and problem type you address. Avoid claiming to do everything for everyone. A headline should be understandable outside your team and consistent with the experience described below it.

Present verifiable work

Explain context, responsibility, action and confirmed outcome. If a number cannot be shared, describe the method without inventing a substitute. Obtain permission before revealing client work or internal information. Separate team outcomes from personal contributions.

Connect useful resources

Select a few documents or articles that genuinely demonstrate the skill. Test links and update withdrawn resources. A large inconsistent portfolio can be harder to understand than a short, explained selection that supports a clear professional direction.

Prepare for contact

Choose which details to make public and how enquiries will be handled. Professional posts can affect reputation; verify facts and affiliations. Review the profile periodically to remove expired offers and roles you no longer hold.

Worked example

Achievement template: situation / personal responsibility / action / publishable evidence / limitation. “Redesigned support journey, delivered documentation and follow-up procedure” is more verifiable than “indispensable expert”.
